missymd.....reading your journey I can clearly see I'm lacking in the patience department. I'm in less than a year and already my nerves are frayed and have aquired a few gray hairs so I've gotta learn to hang tight. CONGRATS ON YOUR GC SUCCESS.

Thanks Dodgertown and Freeish15. Once the RFE was submitted it took roughly two months for approval.

Does anyone know how a VAWA applicant go about updating their address with USCIS? According to a post I read it can't be done via the usual change of address method because of the nature of our filing?????

You can change online when you check your status

theres an option to change address & make requests

Nope. It has to be done some other way.

If I am not mistaken you have to send a notarized letter to Vermont or if the case is at NBC, you should send it to NBC. Signatures must match.

Let's see what Sandra says. She knows this for sure.

A change of address can be made by submitting a written request with an original signature to the Vermont Service Center (VSC). Applicants with VAWA, T, or U related cases should notuse change of address resources online.

If the case has been transferred to a USCIS field office, the VSC transfers the change of address request to the appropriate office. A change of address in VAWA, T, or U cases that has been transferred to a field office can only be made by a supervisor.

An applicant may also appear in person at a USCIS field office to request a change of address. The applicant’s identity must be verified prior to making the requested change. If the case is at the VSC, the field office must also notify the VSC of the change of address.

Just came back from my AOS interview. Man, what a day. Interview didn't go well. It lasted for more than an hour and no decision was made. Officer gave me a sheet of paper saying: "Your case is being held for further review". Great. ....

Sorry to hear that. I hope you get approved very soon. I do have a few questions for you.

Was this your first interview with USCIS? if not what type of interview did you have with them in the past?

How long after Vawa approval did you receive your I-485 interview date?

In what city is your local office located?

Did you go to the interview with a lawyer?

Did the officer ask you for any documentation such as birth certificate or divorce decree, etc... ?

Were you ever arrested in the past? If so, did the officer ask you anything about that?

No I went to interview by myself. And I don't think that lawyers presence would have helped at all. Officer didn't ask me about abuse at all. I wanted to show him all my documents that I brought: birth and marriage certificates and etc but he said that he already had everything on file. No I was never arrested in the past, so no questions were asked about this.

Here is my timeline:

March 2014 - Filed I-360 VAWA

May 2014 - RFE

August 2014 - RFE response sent

September 2014 - VAWA approved

April 2015 - Filed I-485 AOS

May 2015 - Biometrics

June 2015 - Case transferred to NBC

August 2015 - Case transferred to local office (according to Infopass Apt)

September 2015 - Interview letter received in mail (online status still shows case at NBC as of June)

October 2015 - AOS interview NO decision made....

...........and im really sorry to hear about your interview, that it didn't go well,

one thing I ve learned we really have to keep our faith in God, because by the end of the day he is the only one on earth who will make the decision on that and he is the only one who knows what we went through, and he is the only one who is gonna end for us the suffer we went before and during this journey.

Hi Sandra. I originally filed my VAWA case with a NY address but have since moved to Massachusetts. I now have a VAWA. So how will changing my address affect where my case get sent when I file I 485? Will my interview be in NY or MA?

hopefuli2015 after submitting a notarized letter to Vermont wait 10 days and go to the infopass to confirm if they updated your address or not because most of the time they do not update the address (they are mess updating address), then make sure to follow up with infopass ok.

ANY document you must submit to Vermont. You will have the AOS interview in MA.
