PNY89 it seems your file did not even leave Vermont, after Vermont the file will go to the NBC (3/4 months there) and then local office. Why did your lawyer take months to inquire USCIS about your case?

If the file is not shipped to the NBC in 20/30 days after VAWA approval the attorney or the alien should always inquire Vermont about it.It seems your case is seating in Vermont since your VAWA was approved.

Thank you for your response Sandra! :)

Does this always happen -the case going through NVC- or only when Vermont has a good reason to send it there, for example workload?? In this case the local office in NYC asked for the file directly from the Vermont service center. So I guess it goes directly from Vermont to NY...

DODGERTOWN you need to submit form I485, I765, G325A, I864W,G1145, and if you can't afford to pay the USCIS fees then submit form I 912 and ask to waive the fees regarding forms I485- and I765. When filing out form I765 choose category C ( 9 ).

Submit a cover letter, copy of your VAWA APPROVAL,copy of marriage certificate, copy of your birth certificate and respective translation,if you are divorced copy of the divorce decree, copy of your valid passport, copy of the I94,if you were inspect at the Port of Entry,4 pictures passport style. You must submit to Vermont ok. If you were previously married submit copy of the divorce decree as well.

Sandra, is this where I send my I-485?

USCIS

Vermont Service Center

Attn: CRU

75 Lower Welden Street

St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

By the way, what is CRU? It says ATTN: CRU. This address was copied from USCIS website http://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

PNC89 yes ALL files go to the NBC after VAWA approval, because they do the background check and issue RFE,if something is missing in the file such as copies of documents, medical exam, form I864W etc.The local office does not issue Request of evidence (RFE).

You said the local office asked the file from Vermont, well they probably will submit to the local office, but if something is missing as I said before, they must submit to the NBC in order for them to issue the RFE or to complete background check.

Morning Sandra,

I just wanted to ask a quick question. A few months ago I called USCIS and was advised to do an info pass and went to my local office. However, when I got there the officer after requesting my ID said he could not discuss anything about my case due to the sensitivity of it. But I am seeing people doing info pass in this group, going along to local office and getting answers back.

For eg you mentioned a member going to info pass and finding out her VAWA had been approved 30 days prior.

I am wondering if it is worth me trying again as I want to know if my case may've been approved and they've not notified anyone.

Dodgertown I don't know if you mailed your AOS to Vermont or not, check your receipt ok. You suppose to send the forms to Vermont.

CRU means Case Resolution Unit,if you put VAWA Unit it's ok.

Hi Sandra and everyone, I am so happy, I actually want to cry. I finally got my VAWA approval.

Sandra I now need to speed up my I-485, You said that you would help me to complete my AOS application as my attorney is not doing this for me.

Can you also advise me what information USCIS would need so that my mother can get the health professionals in the UK to provide the necessary evidence.

Thanks for your support and encouragement.

Tink88, Oct 2 2014 sent in I-360

Oct 6 2014 receipt and I-797 sent and Prima Facie

Jan 6 2015 RFE - Police check from UK and copy of divorce from 1st husband

Feb 10th? sent RFE back via attorney

April 16 2015 Email and text notification of Approval. The site has also been updated.

Funny thing is I called USCIS on Monday and asked for the direct number the attorneys use. I gave that to my attorney who called them yesterday. She said she had to leave a message and they said they should get back to her in 3 days.

This afternoon I got the notification.
