In the 90s as far I understood your child is american, that being said your child will not be the VAWA petitioner. But you You may file for yourself considering your child has been abused by your U.S. citizen husband. Once you receive prima facie you can apply for medicaid and food stamp for you, most of the States will not give you food stamp, just medicaid, but for your child you can apply for food stamp,Tanf and Medicaid.

I can't advise if you should file VAWA with or without an attorney to represent you.

Hi there, just wondered if anyone could give me some reassurance. Back in Jan Vermont ask for RFE. I gave all info to my attorney beginning of Feb and I've not heard anything since. The site has not been updated to indicate whether they have received the documents nothing. My I-797 expires at the beg of April, is the attorney suppose to automatically request an extension. I don'r really know what to do, I feel kinda lost

There are no RFE extensions; if USCIS do not receive an adequate response to the RFE - or any response whatsoever - then your case will be automatically denied.

Have you confirmed with your attorney that they responded to the RFE? Obtain the tracking number of their submission to USCIS, if possible.

Hi there Hypnos, i think there has been a misunderstanding. This was actually 2 different questions. I was asking how long does it normally take once RFE has been returned to Vermont to receive acknowledgement. There is no sign on the system that it has even been received. 2nd question was regarding my Prima Facie which is due to expire

OK.

The online status may or may not change; it is notoriously unreliable.

I think from what Sandra has stated here before, you need to make a written request about a month before your current prima facie expires and ask for another.
