Straight forward how she should have handled it. Keep the purse with the loaded gun away from the two year old!!

Doesn't matter what type of firearm she had.

She could have just left it locked away at home and she'd be alive today. These type of "accidents" happen all too often.

That protection that a gun supposedly offers backfires hundreds of times a year.

Ok, time to get Marvin in this thread. If the child was black, he either would have been shot by the cops or put in prison.:devil:

It's happening now.

Spider Sense tingling! Did someone say black????

Or keep it on your person... easiest way to carry it without it going off - properly holstered firearms don't discharge themselves.

I have at least one friend that shot himself in the foot while the weapon was properly holstered. Of course, it was a studio blank, but it still left a mark.

The lack of empathy amongst some of our esteemed posting colleagues is quite disturbing.

Ideology trumps empathy.

At least it was not a nuclear trigger.

Be thankful you don't have two friends like that.

So the weapon was properly holstered yet it still discharged? Or, does he have the propensity to have his finger on the trigger while properly holstered?

Just asking.

He was a stunt double at the time. He earned the nickname "Quick Draw" after that incident. This was back in the days before they crimped the cartridges to get the back pressure needed to get a realistic report, smoke, and flash. Instead they used paper wads and wax to seal the cartridge. Those wads could put some serious hurt on you if one hit you at close enough range.

It was an M & P shield by the sounds of it.

I really don't know what to say about the situation. I've heard conceal carry instructors say never leave a gun in a purse or bag because there is no guarentee it will stay on your person - therefore you have no control.

On the flip side, there are companies that sell special conceal carry bags out there. In fact, she apparently had one.
