On the I-751 form were you are putting in the your adress it asks for on question 16 part a."In care of" Now what does this mean? In some forums people are saying it means you put whos name the house belongs to, in other forums people say it means the person your mail is mailed to if it is not you.

Well my wife(the Conditional Resident) and I live with my Father and he owns the house but our mail is sent to us at our family's P.O. Box. All of our names are included on the P.O. Box. So what do we put?

If you want to see the form itself and what question im talking about, here is the link: http://www.uscis.gov/i-751

Also if a question dosent apply to you do you put N/A or NONE? I ask because the instruction which are also included with the link above say leave it blank but the entire internet says write N/A.

I would think 16a is Physical address so it wouldn't have a P.O. Box. but would be where you actually live. The form seems to bring up the wrong identifier when you put your cursur in it. Either way if her name is registered on the box I would put her name in both "In Care Of" spots on 16a and 17a but I think the P.O. box where you receive mail goes in 17.. That's just what I would do but I'm not an expert by any means.

Here is an example form someone linked for me on here and they left everything blank like the form insructions say which is what I did. http://www.visajourn...-Form-I-751.pdf

If really unsure just call USCIS. I've done it a few times in the past.

Im talking about part 16, Im putting our Physical address there and want to know if we put my fathers name under the care of spot because me, my wife, and our daughter live with him and he owns the house. Im just saying that some people say you put who owns the house there and other people say you put the name of anyone who is recieving mail on your behalf. So i dont know what to write there or if both of those are wrong, Id like to know what i should put there.

As for question 17 we have a family p.o. box. that includes all of our names on it that we recieve our mail at except for Fed Ex packages(which are shipped to our physical address), would we put anything in the "in care of" line there. I wouldnt think so because noone is recvieing our mail there on our behalf, our mail is addressed directly to us at our P.O. Box.

Also, for question 17, would we put our P.O. box in the "Street number and name" section?

I put my name and info there since the mail was coming to me at our home. When I received my paperwork it actually said

FirstName LastName

c/o FirstName LastName

but for my kids it said

KidFirst KidLast

c/o MomFirst MomLast

I would leave 17 blank unless you need the mail sent there instead of your physical address.

Would it not be preferable in this case to have things brought to the physical address? I don't recall how the green cards came the first time and I don't know how they'll be sent this time so maybe someone can enlighten both of us. I would want to make sure that I use the same address throughout the process and be sure that if the green card delivery requires a signature that someone is available to receive it and not have it rejected for being a P.O. box that can't provide one. That's just my opinion obviously.

My wifes Initial green card, along with all other mail from the USCIS has always came to our P.O. Box. IM just wondeirng about the "In care of" portion as i am not entirely sure what this means.

Also i would like to know what to put for the "Street number and name" section of the Mailing address portion if our mailing address is a P.O. Box?

If you've always received things from USCIS at the P.O. Box then why not address it the same way in 17? I know the only difference between our companys physical address and mailing address is that the "P.O. Box 123" is added to the street name and number and the zip code is 1 digit different.

Yes but what if the "in care of" part is not referring to who gets the mail? Id know what to put if I knew what it meant. lol

From what I've been reading you could probably leave it blank. Even though you don't own the house you do actually live there and you are both also listed on the P.O. Box so the mail is not "In The Care" of anyone other than herself. This is explained better on the instructions for the i-90 for replacing a Green Card. Also from what I'm reading a lot of attorneys post they just leave it blank unless you are actually having it delivered to someone else. So blank or her name...I don't think it makes much of a difference. I'm still going to list my Wife's name on mine.

Here is link to i-90 instructions. http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-90instr.pdf

Im assuming the only reason i would put a name there is if i was having someone handeling my mail or recieving my mail for me, which is not the case but i want to make sure that the ," in care of" portion is pertaining to mail.

I would put her name in the "In Care Of" for both 16 and 17. Seems to me that just clarifies that you want her to get it and not someone else.

This is correct. It can be left blank as well if no one else beside her will be receiving the mail.

Im just wondering if the "in care of portion" for the physical address might be pertaining to who owns the house we live in, which would be my father because we live with him. Or does it just have to do exclusively with who is recieving the mail. If it only has to do with whos recieving the mail then im assuming we could just leave it blank and they would mail whatever they are going to mail to the name they have on file.

Also for when it asks about the mailing address, would we put our PO Box in the section were it says, "Street number and name"?

If she is receiving the mail at that address, then you can either leave it blank or put her name in the box. If you were having someone else receive the mail at that address for her, then you would put that persons name in the box. I put my wife's name in the care of box just to cover all the bases. It's not that big of a deal. The envelope came to the house addressed like this:

Mrs. Teddy B

c/o Mrs. Teddy B
