Hello all,

Because this site has been such a blessing to me, I want to share with you my Green Card Interview experience in Detroit Michigan and answer any questions people may have with their process. I had a lawyer throughout the entirety so I know a hefty amount about the process

I married my Canadian girlfriend in June of this year. We went through some hickups along the way through the process (she was actually red flagged at one point after unsuccessfully crossing the border) but ultimately ended up at the USCIS office in Detroit for our Green Card Interview. We went through the K1 route.

We arrived at the office an hour and a half early and sat there for the same amount of time before being called in at the exact time of our schedule interview. The immigration officer, a female, was exceptionally kind and barely asked us any questions. Our lawyer had provided us a packet of original documentation, which she did not take. I gathered all supporting documents (insurance, lease, bank account, etc) prior to the interview and packeted them nicely. She asked if we wanted to give her anything, and that packet was all she took. We talked mainly about how we met, and in general, just shot the for a little while before she approved us. The entire interview process must have lasted about 10 minutes.

Our interview was on the 16th of December. My wife's green card is arriving at our apartment tomorrow, December 31st, just to give ya'll a general time frame of when you'll actually receive the card.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you want. I am more than happy to help.

Hi! Congrats on your green card. When did you file for AOS?

Philippians 4: 6-7. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
