WOW! I am so pleasantly surprised!!! My office in Oklahoma City just updated my case to interview has been scheduled!! I cannot believe this! My office takes 9-13 months from start to finish and i am at the 4 month and 10th day and online status changed from IN LINE to INTERVIEW HAS BEEN SCHEDULED! I will let you know when i get the interview letter!!!

If he has applied via the 5-year option then at least the last 5 years, if via the 3-year rule - then at least the last 3 years... Good luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the point of the tax returns is to prove commingling of finances as proof of a bonafide marital relationship. Applicants applying based on five years of permanent residency (especially those who did not get their green cards through marriage to a U.S. citizen) are not required to present tax returns at the interview.

In a perfect scenario, you are correct indeed. But from my research and the countless threads i have read about it, i can strongly deduce tax receipts/returns are strongly advised to be taken with you, even if you apply via the 5-year rule. You can prove you are a person with good moral standard (pay your debts), you can prove you somewhat haven't been a potential burden of social aids from the government, you can prove address registrations, income, relationship/marital status etc...

I would highly recommend applicants to bring tax documentation with them, regardless of the method they are applying via. I am applying via the 5-year rule, and tax receipts and tax returns are ready and printed in my supporting documentation, for when the time comes for my interview. With immigration, overly prepared on the day never hurts. My opinion though. Good luck to everybody!
