Our I-751--I-797 NOA is dated December 1st, but we have not received our biometrics appointment as of today's mail.. We leave on Sunday, January 4th for two weeks in Mexico and want to know if we can do an early biometrics at the Oakland, California service center this week with only our NOA or if that is not possible what would be the best way to preserve our place in line?

Nope. You need the appointment letter. You are cutting it kind of close to do anything. If you miss the appointment while you are gone, you can probably still do the biometrics when you return. Worst case, you follow the directions on the appointment letter to reschedule a new appointment.

You need to be careful because the wording on the biometrics appointment letter is very strict about missing the appointment. Is there anyone who can check your mail while you're away to make sure you don't receive it and miss the date while you're gone?

We already reviewed the language from our AoS appt. and prepared our reschedule request for our friend who handles our mail. We will see if the nootice comes in the mail by Thursday.
