I'm new here and not sure if this is right place to ask but hoping it is lol :)

I am going to see my girlfriend for the first time in February and have only flown once but only a short distance and am curious about some things.

I'll be having two transfers on the flight there and am curious what to do. First transfer is in Chicago then second Tokyo. After getting off plane what steps do I have to go through? Is their customs and security or do I just go to desk in check in then go through security?

Also I'll be arriving at the Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport in terminal 3. Can someone who is familiar with that tell me of steps I need to do after getting of plane and how to find my girlfriend as I read she has to stay outside of the airport.

I am very unfamiliar with flying so any tips and suggestions including things to bring would be greatly appreciated :)

Tokoyo you will have to get your carry on luggage only and go thru security again, it goes fast. When you hit Manila after you clear immigration you can go to floor 3 and catch taxi that uses meter, if you use taxi on floor 1 they will try to rip you off, just negotiate rate. Better if you have someone there to pick you up.

As far as the flight it really suxs and it's really long, but once you get there it pretty good. Beer is free on international flights so a few early in the flight can help ease the long flight.

Hopefully you won't be staying too long in Manila, it too crowded and too busy for me. Catch a plane and explore Philippines, You can pay around $50 and go to about anywhere you want.

One funny little tip that no one ever told me about that would have been very useful on my first international flight...

Bring a ball point pen with you!

lol. It may sound simple, but you must fill out a declaration card to give to customs on entry. They give you the card on the plane, but won't supply anything to fill it out with and people seem to be weird about loaning out their pen.

It's a looooooong flight. Be sure to drink plenty of water as they tend to keep the plane dry.

You will LOVE the Philippines! Enjoy the trip!
