I am an American Citizen and my spouse is Moroccan. She has a "tourist visa" interview in a couple of weeks and I want to know if I can accompany her and participate in the interview. Barring that, if I prepare some form of Affidavit or Declaration and she brings that with her, will the consular official actually read it?

The last thing you want to do is become involved at all but as her husband you already are. The fact that you exist as a USC spouse will cause her denial.

These cases are determined before the applicant is called to the window. Keep in mind all applicants are considered intending immigrants. USCIS explained to my husband that no matter what ties I had to my former country those ties would be to my husband if I were allowed entry into the USA. I was denied 3 times.

I am sure you feel you must try to obtain a B 2. She can apply as many times as she wants.

Most visa offices only allow the applicants in -- not enough space for anyone not involved in the process. Exceptions made for those who need help physically or need translation help (for language other than those spoken in the country or English)...haven't heard of other exceptiobs.

Although it is an american embassy, it does not entitle you to enter all parts of the facility. This generally includes interview for tourist visas.

I hope your wife has extremely strong ties to Morocco. Not only is it a high fraud consulate, but she is the wife of a USC

good luck

I got the tourst Visa when we were engaged and I told that to the officer. He did not care about that, neither about the Affidavit of support from both my wife and her friend nor cared to know about my financial situation. he was to the point with me and said "how can I believe you are coming back to Morocco?".. I convinced him showing my contract of work in Marrakesh which showed that I will be on vacation for winter break. I also showed that I have my studies back in Morocco to come for...

Now I am her in NY for Christmas with my wife and her family. I am going back to Morocco next week for our job.and hoping our I-130 application will be finalized by May. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the replies. I was afraid I might not be permitted to attend. So the next question is whether a document I submit will be read or ignored.

...and the reason that's important is because (I failed to make that clear in my post) I live in Morocco with my wife, and have lived here for 3 years, and want the opportunity to explain to the interviewer (in person or in a document) that we have every incentive and intention to return to Morocco after our visit to America.

I want to impress upon him/her that my wife (young, Muslim, absolutely no contacts in America other than my family) will "do what I do" and so the fact that I have a job, a car, an apartment, etc., in Morocco is the critical inquiry. I.e., I'm returning to Morocco, so of course my wife will also return to Morocco.

Any thoughts on this?

have seen similar conversations for expats living in China, with Chinese wives,

and

the only reason I can see, to have that spouse there in the interview,

is to prove up that the couple will be returning to China,

as

the Couple has a life in China, not any life in USA, with the trip to USA done solely to make a visit.

Can't remember the outcome of these, sorry, but there were 3 or 4 this year, written about here.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
