Good Day !

My name is Mrs. Joe Visa. I am a Filipino citizen and at the same time am a Permanent Resident of the United States of America. I am set to go home to Cebu on March 17,2015 and will return to the US on March 30, 2015. My passport expires on May 20, 2015 yet. I am only staying there for 13 days to attend the wedding of my son at the same time visit my ailing 81 year old mother who had a hip replacement recently.

Can I enter the Philippines still with the current passport I have which has less than 6 months validity?

How about going back to the United States? I am a green card holder at the same time.

I really hope to receive a response from your office as soon as possible. There are a lot of information online and I am not sure how accurate they are. Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Respectfully yours,

Mrs. Joe Visa

Dear Ma’am,

Good day. Please be informed that Filipino emigrants/residence visa or permit holders / permanent resident card holders are allowed to enter and depart the country using their passport which is less than six months valid. The required validity of passport which is six months is generally intended for tourist.

I think the only thing they need for us to have the passport valid Atleast 6 months is for the new visa..example:employment visa or tourist visa..but entering and departing in phi is not really an issue even your passport will expire less than six months..i remember i went home May 2013 and my passport will expire july..i went back to dubai june 2013..and I don't have any issue..you'll be fine

Did you manage to go to the Philippines and re-enter US? I know this thread seems a bit old but I think it's useful to know. I have the same case and I guess it really depends on the airline company. I booked my flight through Cathay Pacific.

I have the same situation.. I just wanted an update from Dwight if any problem he encountered going to and from?

many relatives of mine are saying that i need to have 6 months validity. I went to eva travel docs verification site and it said that I can travel without problem

I tried to search for the Foreign service circular number 21-10 but could find it in the BI website

Same boat as my wife and son's, we'll be travelling next week (SEP 2019) and my wife's (Permanent Resident) passport will expire on DEC 2019 and my son (PR) will expire on March 2020. I'm also hesitant in travelling because of the 6 month validity but luckily my travel agent let us book. Our travel agent even confirmed directly to the Airlines and their Ticketing that it's not a problem to travel as long as its US>PHL and vice versa.
