My husband is Jamaican and a green card holder here in us. His brother who is 4 years old has Blount disease. It's where his leg is severely curved out. He's in pain and does need surgery where the leg will be broke and screwed back and Jamaican doctors suggested he get it donehere. We have no money to pay for the surgery and are wondering if it would be possible to adopt him to bring him here or any other way so he could get his surgery payed for?

Payed by who ? You will have to pay for it, you can easily apply for a tourist visa to bring him for surgery, bit again you will have to pay for it. Even if you adopted him (which you can't), you'll have to pay for it.

If you have no money to pay for the surgery, then how will it happen? Adoption is not an option.

good luck

I understand how you want to help your brother in law, but You cannot adopt him.

You will need to talk to an orthopedic surgeon about the surgery. There maybe orthopedic surgeons who will help with the surgery, but there are still expenses from hospital stay, and physical therapy. You will have to start calling and writing for assistance. Also, the surgeon will either go to JA or have him come to the US.

Other expenses are airfare, visas, braces, medicine. You can start with other organizations like Catholic Charities, United Way, Salvation Army to write them.

Majority of expenses are the responsibility of the family.

You can get a B visiting visa for medical reasons, but as the others have said, they would need proof the surgery and recovery and possible complications will be paid for. Adoption is not an option, the only thing I could think of would be medical charities, if his case is severe. Alternatively, if you have some money, but not enough for surgery and recovery in the USA, then having it done by an expert in Jamaica or elsewhere in the Caribbean/ South America may be significantly cheaper.

Ok thank you all...we do have money just not enough for surgery. We just though if we adopted him to live here and went on my health insurance it would work out. His parents would allow us to keep him since his leg will get worse and may eventually not walk from it I don't know he walks now. We will try to see if we can get a charity to accept his expenses.

Find a specialist in your area that would be willing to do

the surgery for free (you will need a certified letter from him/her)

Contact the Jamaican Diaspora seeing if they will donate towards

the hospital stay & treatment while there, ask your church to help,

host an event (BBQ) with dear friends asking them to donate.

The place to stay is covered by your home , so no hotel needed.

Get certified letter from Jamaican specialist saying in detail what the

surgery entails and he has to get it in the US. Purchase insurance to

cover somethings medically for the child, all these documentations

will help get it done. An adoption will take 4ver & it carries not much weight

if the child both parents are alive, adoptions are easier in countries with

orphans due to crimes or diseases that have killed the parents & families.

*PS If in NY tap into the resources of Una Clarke, she can offer valuable

advise.........good luck
