I had my interview almost 3 weeks ago, and im still waiting to get my visa.

They say they require a verification from usa.

What kind of verification takes almost 3 weeks when others get their visa the same day as interview?

they tried to issue the visa the same day as the interview, but something involving usa verifying "something" failed to work,

and a call to washington made the consul believe it would be fixed the day after, or at least in less than 10 days.

In the Middle East, checks in the US frequently last several weeks to several months after an interview. They check your name, your background and whatnot.

Did they give you any papers at the interview, like a 221g?

They took my husband's passport and didn't give it back for 6 weeks with the visa. Now granted, that was Egypt. Anyone out there with experience with AR/AP going through European countries?

Our checks took right at 6 months. :protest: In total, the embassy has my husbands passport for almost a year. Have you tried emailing the embassy to see what exactly the problem is? I'm not familier with how Belgium works. Hopefully someone is out there that can give you more insight. Hope everything is resolved soon!

Alexander,

I think you need to call or email the embassy for the status of your visa, follow up with them. My fiancé had his interview at the Netherlands embassy and got his visa + passport two days after the interview, by mail. Check with them, maybe that will speed the process.

Good luck!

You can also contact the Department of State in Washington Dc. They will not tell you details about any secrity checks, but they can tell you the status of the checks (pending or not) and perhaps a little more than the consulate has said about what they are looking at.

...once again waiting
