Biometrics appointment letters for kids - do they come?

Hello everyone,

I know that when we did our interviews originally the kids attended but weren't interviewed. Now I have our biometrics appointments coming up in 12 days. It is the first day back to school after the Winter Break!

So my question is... do they have to actually come? They won't be doing fingerprints but will they do photos? Just wondering what to expect at the appointment so I can plan accordingly.

USCIS - 40 DAYS
2012-10-30: FedEx delivered I-130 to Chicago Lockbox Mail Room
2012-11-01: NOA1 by email - MSC
2012-11-02: $420 (x3) debited from our account

My 21 yo stepson and wife had their prints and photos taken for ROC in the same manner as for AOS. It was the same fiirst-come first-serve quick and easy process at the Seattle ASC office in Tukwila. YMMV.

Do your kids have to attend? Did they also receive ASC Appointment Notices in the mail? Refer to page 2 of the Form I-751 instructions and the USCIS I-751 website for specific information about biometrics submission requirements and possible consequences of failure to comply with the instructions. If you have to pay for their biometrics fees, regardless of age (as mentioned on the website link), sounds like they should be in attendance.

BTW, the consequences for failure to attend the scheduled biometrics appointment is also mentioned on the Form I-797c, ASC Appointment Notice.

They are only 6&9 so they don't do fingerprints. Do we have photos taken when we go?

I know the instructions say if you are a no-show you are considered to be abandoning the process. Just wish I knew if they actually have to go based on their age. I will drag them with me under the assumption it is yes.
