It's no Merry Christmas for Nico Carlisle as he learned what the second amendment could do for him.
She Answers Door Knock, Man Puts Gun to Her Neck. His Huge Mistake.
2ajxcgj.jpg
A woman in Memphis, Tennessee, answered a knock at her door at around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday. When she opened the door, she found herself in a potential life-and-death situation.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Nico Carlisle, reportedly forced his way into the residence and pressed a gun to the female homeowner’s neck.
However, the suspected criminal was seemingly unaware that the woman had retrieved her handgun before she went to investigate the knock at the door. Police say the woman then fired multiple shots at Carlisle in apparent self-defense.
Responding police officers found the suspect lying down near the front door with multiple gunshot wounds. Carlisle was eventually pronounced dead.
Police are reportedly still searching for a second man who is believed to be involved in the botched robbery.

Naturally everyone should take a handgun to answer a knock at their door.

I don't understand VJ members fixation with these kind of stories. IMO there's some dubious wish fulfilment stuff at work there.

If that's the message you want to take from this.

I see a desperate need amongst gun aficionados to validate personal paranoia with these types of stories. Small town lifestyles unfortunately result in small town thinking.

The reality is that the USA is a country where significant numbers of people live in desperate poverty and have no belief that they can improve their situation or have the aspiration to do so. The result is horrific crime rates in many urban centres. That is a very sad situation all told.

You are perfectly free to believe that guns are some sort of answer to social problems or that violent home invasions are a state of normal in the developed world. It just isn't the case and those of us who have a more global outlook on things believe differently.

No amount of stories like this is going to make anyone believe otherwise

It's a nice posit, but it's wrong ! No, I'm not slamming you about it, but suggest a different posit -

the low-level jobs are taken already by illegal aliens, these last 30 years,

so any concept of upward mobility -

where one starts in construction, works themselves through college paying tuition from construction jobs,

is destroyed.

These folksen living in 'desperate poverty' this century do not have availability of construction jobs, anymore.

It really is the fault of 'employers' preferring to hire illegal aliens over USCitizens, each and every time.

Sorry.

What to do, how to fix?

Since these fellas have so much free time, they need to gang together, collect the illegal aliens from the jobsites, drop them off at ICE intake centers nearby, and go forth with entry into the construction jobs.

hmmm - I see a new path. Thanks for reminding me about this problem - I write of it often, elsewhere, and just saw the final bit that makes it all fixable.

That's a bit simplistic don't you think? Getting a good education should get anyone out of poverty, or at least give them the aspiration to do so.

Of course we know that the government isn't interested in the poor and the prevailing attitude seems to be to write people off out of hand.

Don't try and fix things, just get a gun, a willingness to use it and vote for the people who create laws that allow you to literally get away with murder.

Insanity.

Everyone should remember that it's your fault there are criminal thugs. If you shoot and kill them when they try to kill you, or rob you, or assault you, then you are not being very nice. Remember, people only do bad things because you and the government, and evil and selfish people who work for a living made them do it.

Next time someone tries to rob you or kill you, remember before you shoot to first offer them a good paying job and a turkey leg.

Using a gun is an instant solution, but has instant consequences, Ming.

The illegal alien worker problem, displacing a strata of society that used to be upwardly mobile, is a long-term problem that cannot be fixed with a gun.

Still, all contributes to the moral decay issues here in the USA - I'm happy the resident there in Memphis picked up her piece prior to answering the door. She's still alive, and that's what is important, today.

Its not a solution to anything. Society shouldn't be so unsafe that paranoid people think that owning and carrying a gun for protection is necessary.

The fact is that the USA isn't that dangerous. Its the perception people have gotten from media sensationalism coupled with decades of propaganda from the gun rights lobby.

Even in Canada, an unfortunate soul created by mean and cruel working people found himself on the losing end of his robbery gone wrong. Again, if the store owner had simply offered him a turkey leg and a job, then the criminal may have been reformed. The comments to the video show just how mean people are to criminals.

What makes you think people buy guns because they are paranoid. I grew up around guns, my children grew up around guns and my grandchildren all know how to shoot. We also enjoy archery with 3 of us having studied under an Olympian. I would rather classify anyone breaking in as suicidal, because they are not apt to get to a trail. I made the mistake of taking out an intruder by hand when I was young, and the fool had the nerve to try to file charges against me for ruining his ability to produce children ( and pee for a good month ) and I am NOT going through that again.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

All people who buy guns? Not at all.

The people who present them as being an essential tool to survive in society, absolutely.
