Hi fellows,

Should my fiancee apply for a DL first, then apply for a SSN? What should you bring to the Dept. of Licensing (WA) to prove your identity and residency. i think a DL is needed to apply for SSN. Any idea guys?

:guides: easily accessible at the top of the forum page. In particular, the K1 Flow Chart, sounds like you are around step #15 right now: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

You should also review the WA DOL licensing requirements. If I recall correctly, there are several types of documents that are necessary to obtain a DL or ID. That may influence your decision as to which step to do next. Get married is a good choice.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

i say chase a SSN firstly. anything else is at the state's discretion, but that SSN is easily gotten and quickly, apply in VISA name only.

SSN first because you can apply for one the very next business day after you landed in the U.S.

The requirements for a DL vary from state to state, but in FL, you can't have one unless you have a Green Card.

Most states allow a driver's license after the EAD. But you normally have to prove place of residence too, so look up the DMV for your state, and get the SSN first.

that sounds too easy, to use the internetz. Can't the OP read the instructions through the glass door late at night, instead, when the office is closed on his way home from the worksite ?
