My fiancée (now husband) came from England on a K-1 visa on October 13. We got married on December 3rd with the K-1 expiring on January 10th. We understand we have to expedite the filing of the AOS as quickly as possible, so any help would be greatly appreciated in answering the following questions that I have:
I am currently working as a part-time baker and a self-employed part-time nanny, only as of June 2014, with no prior employment up until that point. Together these two jobs pay just above the 125% poverty guideline.
I am considering going full-time with the nanny job, which would still be just above the 125% poverty line.
My two questions are:
  1. If I continue to work as a part-time nanny and part-time baker, how would I go about showing financial proof since I have no prior tax returns, due to lack of employment from previous tax years? This year will be my first year filing taxes.
  2. And also, if I opt to go as a full-time self employed nanny, is that considered a valid source of income for the AOS?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Also we apologise if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't find a forum for AOS specifically.

1. You will need to write a short letter explaining why you have never field taxes. For example, you were on your parent's taxes, were a student etc. Since you have been doing the jobs for almost a year, you can show pay stubs and letters from both places stating how much you earn and that they are stable jobs. Showing your bank records for the last 12 months with the steady income coming in will help too.

2. Yes it is. What I would suggest is filing taxes asap in 2015, that way you will have the taxes filed by the time of the interview. For self-employed people, line 22 of the tax form is the relevant one for income.
