IV packet translation for Spain?

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out if I should translate our documents from Spanish to English for the IV packet. I know the official rule is that either English or the official language of the country is acceptable, but I've seen warnings that checklists are sometimes issued for documents not being in English. I wanted to see what experiences people have had with the Madrid embassy specifically. Has anyone successfully used documents in Spanish in Madrid, or gotten a checklist for not translating?

We were told that we could sent documents to the NVC in Spanish or English. They said there was no need to translate anything.

Thank you! That's what I've heard as well, but I've also heard of cases of NVC being especially picky and sending checklists for non-English documents. It looks like you're about a month ahead of me in processing. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Well, if they don't except my documents in Spanish, I'll let you know. ……. We have most of our supporting documents (marriage cert, police cert..etc in both languages). When you get the Apostille de la haya, the certificates are usually translated in various languages. We paid to get our marriage certificate translated. But all of our financial supports (bank accounts, mortgage, stocks), we plan on leaving those in Spanish).

If you go to the main page for discussion forums and scroll down to the Regional discussions, you can click on the link for Europe (except UK and Russia). Then on the right at the top there's a button for "Start New Topic" It took me a while to find it too
