Can someone explain this to me, I have seen where people lived I Oklahoma and their spouses point of entry was Chicago, is this something they assign, or can you choose your POE, Do they make you go to whatever POE they want??

they do not assign it, you can go wherever you want as long as you have a visa, and yo go to the 48 states or puerto rico etc.

It is because of connecting flights. If you fly from Paris to Los Angeles, for example, the plane may land in NY. There you would pass through immigration before transferring to the next flight.

You choose your own POE when you book the flight to the US. The POE is usually the first city in the US that your plane will land at.

When my wife came to the US, our flight plan was like this: Manila, Philippines --> Taiwan --> Los Angeles --> Chicago --> Des Moines. In our flight plan, LA was our POE, because it was the first stop into the US.

POE is wherever you go through US immigration first. For my now-husband his POE was actually in Shannon, Ireland, before he even boarded the plane to fly to New York - because the US has immigration inspections set up there.

Most Canadian airports also have preclearance so a connecting flight through one of those would lead to a POE at that airport.
