Very confused.. Please help

My petition has already been approved and now preparing for me and my son from previous marriage for our medical .. What bothers me is about my kid's status when we get our visa and fly to America. My fiancé told me he needs to adopt my son so he can be included in his insurance. I thought adoption is automatic after I get married to him.. Can anyone here enlighten me? Thanks in advance

Even he's married you it does not mean your son is going to be his son. There is a process an adoption but I do believe after you are married to him as a wife he can included you and your son as his stepson onto his insurance by marriage and also depending whether the insurance company allow to add stepson as a dependent.
