Pictures To Take To Interview / K1 Visa

I know this has been asked many of times in the past but I just want to make sure that my fiancee brings enough pictures to her interview and not too little. Is 30-40 pictures in a simple photo album/book plenty or shall she bring more?

I think you should be ok with those. When my fiancé had his interview, he took around ten, and he had no problems.

Good luck!

[Moderator hat off]

The pictures should be in a format to enable them to be slid into a narrow, curved slot under a Plexiglass window.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How many times did you physically meet your fiance prior to the interview..? Reason of concern is because some have said if you only physically met once for a few days or so make sure you submit a lot of pictures...

My wife and I only took about 20 photos and that was it. Also it doesn't matter if you have only met one time as long as you show some proof of a relationship.

My wife took nothing except what was required in her packet two. All the info they need to make a decision should have been included in your prior documentation. Looking at photos MAY be a nice touch but I highly doubt it will influence any decision. And no one is going to look at 20-50 photos. Most of the time a decision to proceed, in one direction or another, has already been primarily established in the mind of the embassy officer. How the fiance responds to questions, his/her demeanor and so forth is a lot more important. Just my humble opinion.

I figured what was submitted with the I-129F is pretty much solid proof all for some pictures and chat logs, letters and cards after we met in person showing the continued bona fide relationship should be fine. Still my biggest worry is the joint sponsorship (whole other topic), I'm afraid that might open up a whole new can of worms then they will ask for more evidence, etc., even though the consulate in Abu Dhabi has replied to my email and said they allow a co-sponsor.

A co-sponsor is a financial matter not related to your relationship to your fiance. Showing a wedding photo does nothing to demonstrate financial support. A photo of your co-sponsor, Bill Gates, giving you a trunk load of !00's is a whole different matter. Not to make light of a stressful event, we all went thru it, just take what you think will support your relationship as best as you can. and that's all you can do. Both in the earliest stages and throughout the process some people think more is better and some people gave them just what they ask for. The old KISS principle. Both worked. Personally we submitted about 5 photos during the I-129 bit and that was it. I wish you the best.

my suggestion will be to keep top 10 aside even if you carry 50..show them first.. if CO asks for more, give more.. all 50 in one go may be taken as sign of desperation by some COs... why raise unnecessary suspicion..

When my wife went for her interview, the first thing they asked was for pictures, looked for dates, who was in the pictures, and seemed to ask for a little more information than, the "picture told"..,., it was very important/

TBone is exactly right, pics. removable from a plastic blinded folder, is the right way to go!

Hope this was helpful, I suggest to be very knowledgeable about "the" pictures.

We met in person quite a few times. I tried my best to have pics taken of every different trip.

I also think it might depend on the officer. Sometimes they don't ask for photos.
