But still a few months. With that I mean shorter way that spouse visa. He mentions he is in Ukraine and doesn't care when going back but at the same time he mentions about "playing dumb" which is a NO NO and lottery visa. That shows their plan is to move and live in the US together. So K-1 is what I believe is faster

I agree. K-1 is shorter. But if OP doesn't care how long he's in Ukraine, may as well do IR-1 since beneficiary will arrive in US able to work, if she wants.

Affidavit of support comes to mind if he stays in the Ukraine.

I totally agree with IRIScv, as Please, do not do a CR-1, as that is 12-16 months.,.,you are in Michigan, and I "think" your K-1 would go to CSC, and 3-5 months this would be done, with no rfe's.,., a CR-1 is a huge mistake, especially with your options.

You are very lucky to have all these advantages, have the """engagement party"""" (no type of ceremony) in the Ukraine, and then what ever type of wedding you want in the USA.

You are very fortunate, choose wisely, 3-5 months, or 12-16 months! It's up to you!

Good Luck, sounds like you have a great thing going!

If girlfriend has tourist visa is she allowed to travel while waiting for green card? How long will it take for green card to be issued using K-1 route? We like to travel and don't want to limit us in doing so

Not until she has AP would she be able to travel during the AOS. That takes about 90 days after applying for AOS and AP after marriage. However she can travel during the petition stages on her tourist visa. Personally I prefer the CR1 route. She'd have a green card upon entry with no work or travel limitations except keeping her domicile in the USA.

My apologies. I do not know the difference. As I didn't go that route, I know practically nothing about either.

CR-1 is for couples married less than two years - gets the immigrant a conditional 2-year green card, and they need to remove conditions later. IR-1 is for couples married more than two years - gets the immigrant a 10-year green card, no ROC later.

I'm the USC petitioner.
