For those that have already sent off your I-129F and all related forms etc....Did you all put the paper work in folders?...or in plastic sleeves? Because I have a folder with plastic sleeves in it...and was thinking it would be a good idea to keep it all together in that?

I know its a stupid question but i havent got a clue

Thats what I did, with clear plastic sleeves. I heard they don't really want bulky folders cause they have to take it all apart and arrange it the way they want to arrange it. You can put passport photos and little things in a plastic sandwich bag and staple it to a sheet of paper.

Suggestions I read on other sites led me to compile my work and two-whole punch it on the top of the page and secure it with an acco fastener. (google it - like a two-prong strip of bendy metal that works like a large brad - if that makes sense). I believe that is how they get stuck in file folders at the USCIS centers - plus, it creates no bulk and is relatively secure. Hope that helps.

that's an acco binder. and a good website for help too.

oh and i used little snack sized ziplock baggies for the photos and punched holes in the bottom of them too and just fastened them in.

I used like a file folder from work, made the holes in the top, used the fasteners and tabs for sections. THen got a couple of photo refill sheets (magnetic style) where you raise the film for the 8 photos enclosed.

I didn't make the holes but I put the fotos on plastic bags (like the ones for sandwiches) and stapled them to a sheet and ID them. I put the passport and evidence fotos in separate bags (Please don't forget to put the names in the back of your fotos). Then after I put everything together I made a coverletter and put the items on the same order I listed them.

And the check on the top, the first thing that they would see. I secured them with a binder clip and voila, to the NVC!

Good luck with your petition, it feels sooo great when you send it. :)

I'm doing the same thing as you TimsDaisy with the 2-hole punch in the documents. The only thing different I did was get some some small clasp envelopes and placed the photos inside a plastic baggie inside of the small clasp envelopes. I got to hand it to everyone on here for all their advice and help with everything. My K-1 is becoming a work of art! I'll be sending at the end of this month. I'll be heading over to visit my fiancee' for 2 weeks on 02/11/07. The day after I return, it's on it's way out to my service center! I'm hoping for the best as my visa journey begins to take flight!

This is exactly what I did with our CR1, and it was exactly what our attorney suggested. I also placed small post-it notes at the bottom of each section listing what is in that section...e.g birth certificate - beneficiary. It keeps it organized and also makes it easy for them to disassemble and reassemble if needed. The post-it notes just make it easy for them to go to any section and don't hurt the paper if they need to take them off.

Gnarly,

All those papers that you spent time putting into the sleeves, the clerk who opens your submission is going to have to spend time taking back out of the sleeves before throwing the folder away.

Why make their job harder than it needs to be?

Yodrak

For those that have already sent off your I-129F and all related forms etc....Did you all put the paper work in folders?...or in plastic sleeves? Because I have a folder with plastic sleeves in it...and was thinking it would be a good idea to keep it all together in that?

I know its a stupid question but i havent got a clue

Thats what I did, with clear plastic sleeves. I heard they don't really want bulky folders cause they have to take it all apart and arrange it the way they want to arrange it. You can put passport photos and little things in a plastic sandwich bag and staple it to a sheet of paper.

I used the acco fasteners to do my 129f. I also put those hole punch reinforcements on all my documents in case they begin to wear and accidentally tear off. I used a standard manila folder and followed the guide on VJ. I sectioned off items with tabs and on the 'tabbed sheet' had a list of things to be found there. I also personalized a note on that sheet signing it and thanking them for their time ( silly, but i thought i couldn't hurt jejeje). At the front of the folder on the outside i wrote " Familia xxxxxxx 129f " in permanent marker and using the clear strapping tape i pasted a nice picture of me, my fiancee and her son in a family hug shot ( just personalizing it as much as I could so maybe they might give it an extra thought or attention. Hey i play any card so that whenever they touch it regardless of tossing the front cover away, they still could read my messages jejejejej ). Anyways that's my crazy input and I wish you a speedy Visa process!!!

eff

P.S. and don't forget to triple check everything from the back of the passport pictures to signing every sheet of paper. We filled everything out my last visit to Peru and i sent my 129f in when i returned. I left my fiancee a copy of what was being sent. Just pay attention to details. eff

that's an acco binder.

They DO use a acco binder at USCIS (the one with the two holes on top) - I sent in an expired I-129F form and they sent it back to me (before I got the NOA1) with it already secure with the holes on top and the metal prong-thingy in place.

We also did the two-hole punch, acco fasteners and orientation tabs on the bottom of some important documents. We put our pictures into those photo protective sheets (two pictures per page with room on top for punches) you can get in Staples and similar places. What our lawyer (who we brought our final package to - just to review it) did was that she made a copy of the whole package and put a blue paper on top of it saying "File Copy". The other copy was the one with the original signatures. She said the original copy would travel on to NVC and then over to the Embassy. The File Copy would stay at CSC. I haven't seen such advice anywhere on VJ or elsewhere, so I hope sending two copies won't hurt us or cause delays or RFE or ???
