I am so pissed off this morning! Last night i drove home from work fine, no problems. my husband and i decide to go out for ice cream....when we walk passed my car, my rear license plate was ripped in half!!!! Now, the area that i work in is not the best, but ive never had any problems in the almost year that ive been here. This summer, we had a rash of thefts of the registration stickers on the rear plate, but mine was always fine, never got stolen.

well, yesterday, someone decided that it was my turn! there are only three numbers visible on my plate! :crying:

and what pisses me off the most, is that now i have to go down to the dmv, request a replacement plate and stickers, wait probably two weeks for it to come in, and continue to drive around with half of a license plate! im going to call and file a complaint this morning though, just so that the police are aware (not that they are gonna do anything about it) and so that if i do get pulled over, they will be able to see that a complaint has been made. I drove to work this morning with my driver's license and registration next to me, so that i would be prepared just in case.....

frustrating start to the weekend!

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

Wow that is awful news. How did they rip the plate? I am sitting her wondering how they can do this and it not be seen? Or how did they rip a metal plate? Well good luck on reporting it and getting a new plate and stickers.

Well, that part is kinda my fault since we lost one of the screws for the plate, so we only had it on by one screw. The edge where it was ripped is kinda bent up a little, so im thinking they just bent it back and forth until it broke off. although these people that do this are prepared. One of the other attorneys here superglued his sticker to his plate, and they just took a box cutter im assuming and cut off the corner of his plate.

does your state have both front and rear plates? If yes, I suggest taking the front plate and moving it to the rear and vice versa while you are waiting for replacement plates. It's actually what the highway patrol recommends that you do in situations like that. It's better to have the "good" one in the back.

That is great idea if you have two sets of plates. We do not here in my state. But these persons are very bold and that is awful that they are cutting the plates for the stickers. I have heard of stealing the whole plates but never just the stickers until now.
