Passport was soiled before interview

Dear All VJs,

Please help me,

My interview date is Jan/14, and now I met big trouble. The photo in my passport was soilded with color ( red mark was through from hair - eye- chin on the photo in passport). And I finished medical test with this passport number.

Now I am so confused, I dont know should i make new passport or wait until interview date and embassy will decide. And I am worry if I bring this pp to interview, may be security also will not accept me go inside Embassy.

Your going to need a new passport regardless. You'll have trouble traveling on a spoiled passport and it could cause you trouble at points of entry. This was a case when I've traveled with friends who had relatively minor issues with their passport photos - listing of laminate, water damage. I don't know about Vietnam, but many countries will punch a hole in the old passport and return it to you. You can then use the two passports to show the link. E-mail the embassy and explain the situation as well. I assume they will need to update info in their database. They should have some procedure -- can't imagine you are the first to have an issue like this.

get a new one just to be safe. U dont want any issues when they issue a visa. Also please update your timeline on VJ.

My fiance got a replacement passport in Hanoi in like 3 days.

Get a new one and take BOTH to your interview.

It's unanimous...go get a new one.

Little delay in getting the passport now will save you a lot of grief later.

And just not having to worry about the darn thing is already worth the benefit.

I applied to make new passport today, it is going to take 12 days to get new one. By the way, they will not return old passport to me.

I got medical test on Dec/12 with good result . And now I must lose 140 usd for one more medical test with new passport number...

IOM is so hard. They told me to make new appointment for medical even I've already got medical last week.
