if my mom will be interviewed on april which part of the irs tax return should I bring?

How long ago did you file ? Can you get your tax transcript from irs website ?

You filed early ! So yes your 2014 tax transcript should be available online. If it's not, take your 1040 ( or whichever federal from you filed ) copy of your W2 for 2014, AND copy of your most recent paystub.

Anyone has any updated for the timeline chart? Anyone new to add? I'm pretty sure some people filed after me since May 2014:)

My dad passed his medical exam on the 10th of June.

Now on to the interview.

Hopefully there will be no paperwork issues this time around. My mom lost over two months last year because of incorrect Police certificate. She only found out about the mistakes in it at the interview.

My dad did not get his visa today. I have not seen the letter yet, but he says they said our family income was not sufficient. They want me to prove I have enough income or find a joint sponsor.

The hilarious thing is I did find a joint sponsor a long time ago. I sent all her papers to NVC. Then I sent them again when NVC sent me an RFE claiming the income was insufficient. And my dad had all the copies of the joint sponsor's paperwork with him at the interview.

The joint sponsor's income is twice as much as is required for a household of seven (my family), and she only has three in hers.

I can send them all her papers for the fourth time, of course. But how do I know they will not ignore those yet again without explanation?

Wow exactly what happen to my moms interview last Monday! I have a joint sponsor myself and we both make above the poverty guidelines and when my mom gets into releasing they told her that my co sponsor has to fill up I-864A cause we live in same household? We are not married so we cannot fill up the I-864A and what's frustrating when you call the embassy the call center agents will just tell you follow the instructions! Really? So now I have to mail this affidavit of support for the third time! This time I included my pay stubs from my jobs letter of employment and tax transcripts and my income which I got a new job went up to 55,000$ a year so we'll see how this gonna go!

With that income you do not need a joint sponsor.

Fortunately, the consulate said I can e-mail them the documents. I guess what happened was NVC lost the first set and never forwarded the second one to the consulate.

I figured I'd share my dad's interview experience in case someone's parent finds themselves in a similar situation.

My dad has a history of criminal prosecution. I cannot present all the details here. Let me just say it was local government bureaucracy related and nobody got harmed or could possibly get harmed. He was not guilty and was never arrested or convicted, and the case was dismissed. All these facts are clearly stated in his background check report, which was sent to NVC and then forwarded to the Consulate.

And yet the first thing he heard as he walked into his visa interview was: "You are banned from entering the US based on your criminal background." I am not sure whether the officer was incompetent or they did it on purpose to knock my dad off his balance (I normally tend to not assume that government officials are unintelligent). It took another officer and my dad telling them most of his story and pointing out the appropriate line in the police report to prove that he is not a convicted criminal and can enter the US just fine.

Remember that the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" does not apply in a citizen vs.government case. They will always assume that you are guilty and demand that you prove your innocence to them. And the first step is not to let them intimidate you, which can be easy in a situation with a middle-aged or older parent dealing with a foreign government and officials that do not always speak or understand the parent's language very well.

I'm thinking of traveling to see parents AFTER their visa is approved and plan on coming back to the US with them. Is it ok to do so?

Sure. Why not? Just remember that their visa is only valid for 6 months after the date of their medical exam.
