our i 130 was approved last 1/16/15 but haven't received noa2 yet.should we call nvc now?????

It usually takes about 2 months from the I-130 approval to NVC putting your case in the system. Happened to me twice already. So NVC wouldn't know anything about your case yet.

Do you use the numbers from you Tax Returns (as adjusted gross income) or from your W2 - wages, salaries, etc?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot.

Instructions and form clearly states that you should use adjusted gross income from your Form 1040. If your Form W-2 is your only income and you have no deductions off your gross income, then your adjusted gross income likely equals your Form W-2 Income. If you have other incomes, however, like rental, Schedule C, Schedule E, Schedule D etc, then your adjusted gross income will be greater than your W-2 income, which, of course, is better for your financial.

Anyone filed in September 2014 still waiting? Case is in Nebraska :-( When should we involve our Senators?

Nebraska Service Center has been the worse service center for more than a decade (with possible periodic improvements)--it usually takes longer than other service centers to review the petition. It took 5 months to approve my petition and, according to recent posts on the VJ forums, it can take up to 6 months now. It is very frustrating, especially while seeing Vermont Service Center reviews in 1 month. it also appears there are expedite processing for Philippines (1 months only).

Senators and congressmen are useless when the matter is about ordinary backlog. I.e they may help if your case passed the center's review period (5-6 months).

OlenkaKyiv,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I don't want to sound annoying, just want to make sure I complete it correctly, as I have noticed others receive checklists from NVC that they did not use correct numbers.

I understand the part 13.a.1-13.c.1 - it has to be adjusted gross income (from Tax Returns). My concern is Part 6 #10 "My current Annual Household Income". Is it the same as adjusted gross income, or only "Current income" i.e. salary from W2? Please clarify this part.

Thanks!

Good point. Your concern, however, should not be #10 part 6 but #5, 6c, 7c, 8c, 8c and 9c because #10 is cumulative of 5-9.

The rule of thumb: in #5, 6c, 7c, 8c, 8c and 9c, use the personal income of person reported, which can be W-2, Sch C, Sch E etc - not AGI.

So if you are W-2 employee and this is the only income you have, put your W-2 amount. If you are self employed plus W-2, combine those two. Same for sponsors.

There is a possibility that #10 Part 6 will match your AGI, like if you are W-2 employee without additional income, you file your 1040 as single. Or you claim yourself and your spouse in lines #5 and #6 and file your 1040 jointly, then likely your AGI on 1040 will match #10. But this is just mathematical coincidence.

Here is recent post on that issue

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/534181-aos-checklist-drama/

I.e. you always can meet some dumb head in NVC that does not understand difference between combined income in section "current income" and AGIs. I might have the same problem, since I used only my W-2 income for AOS and did not include my spouse's income. Therefore, #10 does not match closely AGIs in #13. But there is another reason for a mismatch too: W-2 info in #5 is for 2014, when AGI info in #13 is for 2013. Unless you are submitting a copy of your 2014 1040 with your 2014 W-2, some not that smart person in NVC can raise the issue of mismatch as well in this situation.

Sorry for thinking out loud that makes it even more complicated.

Hi, guys

I sent documents to NVC on January 31 and received an e-mail from them that they have received the documents on Feb 3. The e-mail is dated Feb 5, is it the Scan Date that everybody is talking about? or should I wait for something else?

The e-mail also did not specify on what documents they received, just says they have 60 days to review them. I sent both packages: AOS and IV package.

I am still waiting on IV fee to be invoiced to pay. What are my next steps, just wait?..

Thanks.
