Hey Everyone! Congrats to those of you who are getting visa approvals! Exciting!

Question: I'm currently in Costa Rica with my fiancé but our wedding is scheduled for April 11 and I need to get home to get my dress altered, confirm some wedding plans, etc. So we're trying to decide if I should go on now without him or try to hold off a little longer. I really, REALLY do not want to leave him (again) but I might have to.

That said, what is the timeline looking like once you're approved? Our RFE response was delivered to TSC yesterday but they have not updated anything on my USCIS page yet. (Are they supposed to)?

Anyway - just trying to make a wise choice but at the same time do not want to leave my man!! :(

Expect about a week before the approval hits the USCIS website, from there, it takes them give or take a week to 10 days to ship it to NVC, NVC will sit on it for 3-4 days, then ship it out to your consulate where it will take anywhere between 2-7 days to reach. Then you will have to fill out packet 3 and get your medical done and depending on your consulate, either they will schedule your interview or you will have the opportunity to do so. I would say, give yourself atleast a month an a half before your visa interview minimum, April 11th honestly might be cutting it way too close. But you never know. I am in the same delima. I have everything scheduled for March 21st and my fiance doesnt have an interview date yet. Hoping she will have her interview before the end of this month, but I dont know where all this is going to go. Best of luck!

2 weeks today NVC send our papers jan 30. Still nothing. The embassy isn't responding to any emails. NVC said its out of their hand once it's been send. Amsterdam cases usally arrives in 3 days. There is another couple who got their papers send the same they. And theirs is still in transit too.

So frustrating.

When USCIS receives the RFE and it's processed your status will change on the site to "RFE Reply Received". Speaking from our personal story, our RFE was received (meaning the site updated) on November 20th and our NOA2 came December 9th. So about a 3 week turnaround.

Keep an eye on the timeline for Costa Rica K1 applicants timeline on here (this link might work, I tried to add the right filters for you) just so you can get a sense of interview timelines and definitely keep an eye on the regional forums: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=1&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op66=All&op7=Costa%20Rica&dfile=No&adv=0

I know the decision to leave your fiance is so difficult, but it's only a few more months then forever! Hang in there and keep us posted :)

Ashli

Maria and i are going through the exact same thing. Email me and i'll send you "packet 3".

We got approved by USCIS December 17th and the application got to the US Embassy in San Jose January 5th.

The case was not ready for processing until January 29th. Yes, San Jose Embassy is a drag.

ON January 29th they sent us "packet 3" which is basically an email with a PDF of the instructions of all the paperwork you need to provide. Chances are you have to return to the US to get a hold of certain documents that are required for you such as (if applicable) employer letter, Tax returns, W2s, etc. ALL MUST BE ORIGINALS.

Maria was able to gather all the paperwork in a matter of 2 weeks.

Maria was also able to do the Step 1: X-Rays and Step 2: Blood test of the medical exam on the same day. The medical needs to be schedule a couple of days after to allow for the results to arrive to the Step 3: physical exam doctor. Maria is scheduled for her medical on 2/17/15.

Pay your $265 visa fee and schedule your interview the day after you pay your fee.

I am going through this process ahead of you so email me and I'll tell you anything you want to know. Also you can call Maria she lives in San Ramon and she can help Alonso, shes also bilingual so you can talk to her as well.

Josh.
