I agree with this - when I called to find out my case number, I always did it around 10:30EST (and even got through on the first call!)

Thank you for the tip! It helped a lot and I got through tonight and found out I had the case number wrong. So they gave me the correct case number and told me the application had been sent on the 21st! Such a huge relief!

ok, i will have my fiance file the DS160 as well then and take the DS160 confirmation page to get her medical done, in Germany, its a walkin for the medical and as soon as the visa shows ready on the Ceac website, I can have her schedule the interview. Is it advisable to pay the visa fees even before the case reaches the Embassy or should she hold off on that?

Posted

I'm lost. I thought you could pay the visa and have that step done, but the online site is not letting me do so. I think that the it has to state "Ready" on CEAC in order to pay. But, if I'm wrong, would love to know what I'm doing incorrectly.

No. You can't pay online visa fee. You have to pay visa fee US Embassy. I just got this message in this morning when I sign in with CEAC # and Invoice #.

The National Visa Center has forwarded your file to the US Embassy/Consulate where you are applying for an immigrant visa. Any other required fees must now be paid directly at the Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.

Please contact the US Embassy/Consulate if you have any questions. You can find the contact information by consulting this list of US Embassy/Consulate websites.

Not true. Each country has different requirements as to visa payments. In my case I can pay online or do it thru the bank. I don't have an option to pay at the embassy at the time of my interview.

Every consulate is different. Not all embassies require their visa fees to be paid in person. My fiance paid for his online. I suggest you check your respective embassies or the regional forums to see what the rules are.

Received my packet 4 this morning, went on the website for the Montreal consulate fully expecting a "no interviews available" message, but I was able to book my interview for March 17th!!!!!!!!! Medical is booked for March 2nd. When I last saw Rick we didn't even have our NOA2 yet, now we'll have plenty of things to celebrate on Valentine's day!!! I can't believe this is actually happening!!!!!!
