Can someone help me. I'm confused. The U.S. embassy for haiti states that I have fill out a DS 160. But the https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/website says DS 260 under the immigration visa.

If it is a K1 visa you must fill out the DS-160

hey guys

quick question did any of you have to comply with the ridiculously obscene and unrealistic vaccination requirements?

My fiancee did some research i am looking at about $400, double that with her daughter.

not only that some of the vaccines need to be administered over a period of 6 months, and another isn't even available in the country?

where are you guys at with this?

Josh

As far as i know, the required vaccinations are included in the rather hefty medical examination fee. I could be wrong.

For the record, K1 applicants are not required to have their vaccinations done by the time of the medical.

K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants. Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination. See Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html

The vaccinations, however, ARE required when you file for AOS. And they have to be done by a panel physician which is why it's recommended you get them done at the medical or have valid proof from your GP that your vaccinations are up to date to provide to the doctor at the medical; they will then sign off on the vaccinations and give you a copy of a DS-3025 which will satisfy AOS. If you do not have your vaccinations done at your medical (or present to them proof from your GP that you are up-to-date with everything), then you will need to have them done by a civil surgeon here in the US, and I've read many posts of how costly that can be.

My fiance had all of his done before his medical so when we file for AOS it's one less headache/thing to worry about. Personally, I would recommend getting it all out of the way now. But do what's best for you - and definitely compare the prices of the K1 medical to what a civil surgeon would cost here for AOS (I've read some people have had to do an entire medical exam over again).

Good luck!

I don't know how it works in Costa Rica but here in Poland we need to bring our vaccination record from the past and based on this record the certified doctor decides on which vaccination you will need to get or repeat. $400 is unreal. I am paying for everything (doctor, x-rays, blood test, vaccination) $162. Please check with someone who had it done in Costa Rica as it may be different than anywhere else.

The first thing I did when I started this process was to talk to a friend who was the Director of Consular Affairs at one of the embassies (she's now serving the same role in another country). She was very specific in stating that the vaccinations are not - not required to be completed prior to entry into the U.S., and that if you have insurance, your fiancée should wait until they've been added to your insurance to get them prior to the AOS. As one person stated, some require multiple shots over several months, some are prohibitively expensive elsewhere in the world, and in some countries, the medical facilities offering the shots are, shall we say, less than optimal. Never mind the chances for exorbitant prices because they're aware they can take advantage. So State Department recognizes they need to be flexible on that one. I've also checked with an immigration lawyer and several people who assist in asylum cases.
