Hi all,

If my fiancee goes for an interview in January or February of next year (2015), do they want to see 2014 W-2 and 1040 or would 2013 W-2 and 1040 work for the embassy?

Thanks

It will be understood that you may not have your w2 by then. They typically want to see the last year's bank deposits. For us,since we were in the same boat, I sent the last year's up to current pay stubs proving income. I also sent the last 5 years tax records showing for the past 5 years I was above the required poverty level for support. You just need to prove without a doubt you are currently mailing a sufficient income. Your track record will help also if it was sufficient

Bak deposits are assets, only useful when income is insufficient. Mainly they want to see income.

Don't give them just a 1040. One that is not backed up by a W-2 is worthless since you can easily get a blank 1040 and fill in your own numbers.

Consider going to the IRS website and downloading a trax transcript. It is free and you can get it instantly.
