20° F: Floridians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats.

Minnesotans throw on a flannel shirt.

At 20F, no real Floridian would even entertain the thought of leaving the house.

ETA: We made it up to 75F today. :D

on the other hand, we didn't have any hurricanes in the past 5 years

Nice and warm here in Boston, especially considering where I used to live it's usually -20 C this time of year.

occasional tornado, but they are found in hurricanes also. nasty thunderstorms happen all over too. no blizzards, btw.

We usually have an average of 30 days below 0 each year. From what I've heard, February will make up for the lackluster performance thus far.

Oh, btw Raspberry, I was suppose to tell you where i get my baklava. Holy Land Groccery Store - Central Avenue Minneapolis - one stop shopping for ME food. Also, I'm not sure how similar Turkish food is to the traditional levant stuff, but Marina Grill and Deli on West University has an excellent buffett.

Oooooh!! Thanks for that!

I miss good ME food stuffs /cry. Well mostly my mom's food stuffs /more cry.

PS I think Holyland also has a location in the Global Market thing on Lake St. if you are ever going there.. yummmm

So last year they canceled the local "Fire and Ice" festival because it wasn't cold enough and the lake wasn't even entirely frozen. This year they have canceled it because it's too cold. Even though I'm a native Minnesotan, I am not too macho to say I froze my nips off this morning and it wasn't even bad compared to what's coming.

Yes, what a shame, I had planned to go, too! Would have been my first one... maybe next year!

I'm scared to death the septic system will freeze this weekend...
