I don't know if they have them over there, but I have a Sleepypod Air for my cat for travelling and he loves it. I think he's going to be very comfy in it when we fly down. It's very plush, very durable and the ends fold down so he can pass the smallest restrictions on size, but I can pop the ends back out so he can have more space when no one's looking.

I've not seen that carrier before. It looks good - more expensive than I paid for the Sturdibags, but it does look worth the money.

Just wondering what the export certificate for the UK was and if it's still required?  We're looking at possible in-cabin flights and lufthansa seems to provide the largest carrier allocation for under seat storage.  We're aware of the pet passport, microchip, vaccination and health cert but wasn't aware of the import documentation.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

I brought my boxer dog and all that was needed was vaccinations ( usual plus rabies), microchip & a vet certificate to state he was fit to fly.

Oscar flew from Heathrow to Chicago with American, he was in the hold and he had a sky kennel - giant size

I don't know about pets that travel in the cabin, I'm guessing you check them in with you but for pets in the hold Heathrow won't accept check in from members of the public, I had to use a pet transport company ( which were fab and made it really easy for me)

I've used Lufthansa for the air transport of my wife's dog. The dog was put in the undercarriage not in the cabin, but we had no issue. Be sure to check early, because they limit the number of pet allowed on a flight.

 

My wife's dog had a health certificate, "doggy passport", immunization, and was micro-chipped. Honestly, I think CBP was only checking to make sure the dog had it's immunization.

I've flown Delta/KLM with my little Yorkshire Terrier many times and he goes in a carrier under the seat. Technically, you are not allowed to open the carrier door but some flight attendants don't care and some do. I've had a KLM lady shout at me for having the zipper open and his ears was sticking out a bit and I was petting him. Other flight attendants will want to play with and hold your dog. The dog needs to have a microchip and have all of his vaccinations up to date (esp rabies, that's the only one they really check for). I have a passport for him but no one ever checked it. Whenever I went through the CBP Department of Agriculture all they did was look at the rabies vaccine, everything was quick, they didn't even look at my dog.
