Got the k1 visa for my fiance from England. Our wedding is 1/10/15. What can I start now on the whole process for getting her a SSN, getting her a job, getting her a drivers license and all that stuff?

Figured we'd wait on most of it til we're married and she takes my name, but want to get the ball rolling if possible.

The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

Regarding driving most states will only issue a licence which will last as long as their immigration status, so may be worth waiting until she has EAD so she can get a 1 year licence. If she has a UK licence then she will find the test very simple in comparison. Might be worth getting her a copy of your states drivers manual so she can do some revision for the theory test if you have one there. There may well be a practice test online run through your MVA.

Find out how long she will be able to drive on her UK licence before she has to have US one, this varies from state to state.
