Tried that in China and the USSR ... How did that work out for them .

Bingo. Giving people something for doing nothing has always failed, and always will fail.

You stoners could be stoned all year long Just get your check .

I didn't consider that. Maybe I'll take up smoking weed again.

The only people getting free money should be the permanently and severely mentally or physically handicapped. Able bodied - forget it.

This may not be a popular opinion, but many who are mentally ill just cannot handle the day to day pressures of working. I agree with getting disability when it is recommended by psychiatrist

We need to be looking at stabilizing our country as a whole. Everybody who receive the money or any kind of benefits should be required to work except the permanently and severely mentally or physically handicapped.

The problem is that it is likely to increase fraudulent disability claims. Disability is the latest "go to" move to get paid for not working.

So this has nothing to do with population increase? And do you know for sure these are false claims?

The chart shows SSDI Applications per 1,000 Adults. So, no, it has nothing to do with the population increase. Unless you're suggesting that there's some correlation between population density and SSDI applications filed.

More people being born with disabilities is what I was thinking. Am I wrong to try to link the too or to think there may be some correlation?

More people born with disabilities? I think the correlation you're looking for is an increase in law firms making a living off of getting people SSDI payments. Must be a promising business since seemingly every other commercial on TV and radio encourages people to call the lawyer to get their SSDI benefits approved.
