Hey guys, I am in the same situation, as my daugther in law is 26, and I would like to bring her from Brazil, and thought the waiting time was long, however, my sister sends me this yesterday, right from the USCIS site, posted on December 11, 2014, saying that the I-130 only takes 5 months of processing time now, for unmarried adult son or daugther, out of the California Processing center !!!!

DOES ANYBODY KNOW if this has anything to do with the new Immigration law ????

this is how to get to that site

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

and click on Service Center processing times for California.

What I do not understand is that the 5 month period is for both citizen and permanent resident.

I hear that they are trying to finish all work within 5 months, ahead of the Obama law.

Is anyone hearing the same thing ?

Cheers

She is 100% right, I-130 approval takes about 5 months, except that it's irrelevant. Problem is once I-130 is processed, then it goes into storage for years until priority date is current. I-130 processing time has absolutely nothing to do with waiting in family preference categories.

For citizen, after these 5 months visa number is available immediately. For other categories - long wait.

Nothing to do with new immigration law (apart from the fact that there is no new immigration law but that's a detail).
