Form I-131 and Traveling Home

Hi All,

I moved to the US in March this year on a K1, have gotten married, submitted all paperwork, and have received my EAD card and letter stating that my case may be eligible for interview waiver for the green card.

I will be traveling back home in March next year for a short time to attend my sisters wedding. I had heard that the EAD card doubles as AP authorisation, however when I go onto the USCIS case status site and check the status of my I-131 it is still only saying that my case was received. Does my EAD card mean that I will be able to leave and re-enter the country? Or should I be worried about my I-131 case status saying it has only been received?

when you applied for your EAD, did you apply for AP at the same time? If yes, check your card for this wording:

"“Serves as I-512 Advance Parole."

If you didn't apply for AP when you applied for EAD, your card wouldn't say those words and therefore you need to apply for AP separately.

if it says "serves as I-512 advance parole" then you're good to go. Only my ead status changed when I got mine, AP did not even though I had the combo card.

Okay great, my EAD card does say it serves as I-512 so I guess I'm good to go, the case status was just confusing me a little. Thanks for the help!
