Quick G-235A question

Out of pure paranoia that the USCIS will find reasons to deny us (despite no reason!) I have a quick question:

On the question regarding employment details, we both have no CURRENT employment due to we are students. If I was the USCIS this would make me put a red flag next to us because it would appear like we wouldn't be able to support ourselves (when we do have a co-sponsor who earns more than enough for our situation). Yet we provide no evidence of support at this stage? Any ideas or anyone else been through something similar?

Thanks for any help and insight.

PS - Am I ok filling out the forms in block capitals?

Tony and Dannie,

You are being paranoid. G-325A, an obsolescent form, has nothing to do with the determination as to whether or not the visa applicant meets the public charge provisions of the law. That determination will be made by a consular officer after the petition has been approved, the visa has been applied for, and the visa applicant is having their interview.

Awesome - Thanks :)

One last thing, under applicants employment, where I have to list present employment first, should I leave the top field blank as I have no current employment (because the last entry is in the "to" column and that is already filled in as Present) and start on the next line of past employers?

tonyeck,

I would write 'full-time student', assuming that you are full-time. It may not be a paying job, but it is work, and if they bother to look at it this answer will tell them something different about you than 'unemployed' or a blank space would tell them.

We seriously need a students' section for undergrads, grad students & professional school types.

I'm a full-time student; I put 'graduate student' on the G-325A. They're not going to worry about your income until you get to the embassy or consulate (I-134), and you say you have a co-sponsor for that, so relax. We all get neurotic about these forms; really no need to.

AOS

-

Filed: 8/1/07

NOA1:9/7/07

Biometrics: 9/28/07

EAD/AP: 10/17/07

EAD card ordered again (who knows, maybe we got the two-fer deal): 10/23/-7

Transferred to CSC: 10/26/07

Approved: 11/21/07
