Here is a video taken in 2003 in a meeting with code pink. Is it just me or has she drastically changed her story between then and now? It's rather long but I ask you to watch the whole thing before making any judgments.

Can't really watch (listen to) videos here at work but I know I was for the Iraq war at one point - that being when we were told there were WMD's in Iraq and ties to 9/11. Had I known that wasn't the case back then I (and probably many others) definitely wouldn't have felt the same way at the time.

Same here. When I thought that Iraq had ties to 9/11 and that they housed WMDs, I was all gung-ho about it. Now...well, I realize we're there and have a job to do, and we need to finish it, but I'm nowhere near as happy about the situation.

Fair enough, she cites more than just WMD's for going in. And in regard to WMD's she talks about her experience when she was first lady that Sadaam was a continuing threat before 9/11 and he needed to go. She also said that she investigated the WMD issue on her own and in her words tried to take out the political aspect of the WMD reports. Using this video as a backdrop it's really hard for her to claim that she was misled about the threat Iraq posed. She stated in that video she made up her own mind without taking what Bush was saying at face value.

I'll really have to watch this video when I get home then. I can't watch it right now -- I'm at a university computer lab.

While I'm no fan of the Iraq War, I find Hillary Clinton even more distasteful.

The question is, how? I sure don't have the answers but more importantly it seems none of those in charge have them either. It's a classic 'no win' situation. :(

If that's the case then I would agree that she can't use the 'I was mislead' excuse for voting for the war.

If I had all the answers, I'd write to the government. Unfortunately, I don't have the answers -- and neither do they.

Honestly, I think part of the problem is that we're basically babysitting the Iraqi people. They either can't or won't support themselves. We're trying to get them into a position where they're self-sufficient (and we can leave without putting them in too terrible of a spot), but they seem resistant to it. Without the necessary help and effort from the Iraqis, U.S. troops will be stuck in Iraq for who-knows-how-long, since we just can't "up and leave." Doing so would put the Iraqi people in worse danger than they're in right now. Hard to believe, I know, but that's probably what would happen.

You're right though...it's not a good situation. The best we can hope for is getting the Iraqi people on their feet so they can stand up to the terror that country is facing, and then withdraw in small doses.

I think the Iraqi people are sort of looking at us and saying, 'You guys started it, you fix it'. Most of the rest of the world is saying the same thing only adding an, 'I told you so' to it. Unfortunately, we're way over our head with no simple solution. We can't just leave, stay the course isn't working, what next? I don't get paid to have the answers but there's people who do and they aren't getting the job done.

I, like many Brits, was never "at any point" convinced of the justifications given for this war. When it subsequently came to light that those reservations were justified and that Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell had done a Dr. Goebbels on the British public, its really hard to see how the general public could have more insider knowledge of what was later revealed than the politicians who supported the war on the basis of mistaken/dishonest/exaggerated claims. Most of them voted that way according to party loyalty IMO, rather than any heartfelt personal stance on the issue.

So no, I don't really care for Hillary.

Nor do I care for any politician who voted for this war and later claimed to be "misled".

i am not even going to waste my time watching that video. I don't like her and I wont vote for her. If the Dems put her in as the Democract I am going to vote Rep.

Just to protest her and just to give her one less vote.

I said this before and still stand by it.. she is a Snake. she is slimy and smooth.

Well... I really don't think that Hillary is a communist...

Perhaps she gets that "liberal association" by virtue of being a member of the Democratic party, but I personally think she's as right-wing as anyone in the current administration.

She passes herself off as a "centrist", which by her definition seems to be to pander to whatever side will get her support.
