What is the required length of job tenure to demonstrate annual income for the I-864? I notice the instructions mention "pay stub(s) for the most recent 6 months". Suppose one hasn't filed tax returns in the past three years and doesn't have six months of job tenure, and one's income is about $1,700/month (barely enough to clear the $19,662/year threshold); can one still slide by using a letter from the employer? Thanks.

For a K-1 visa, the I-134 is adjudicated at Manila IV on interview day, using the same rules for adjudication for the I-864,

which are, loosely,

1. prior tax year and

2. current annual income.

could you refocus on a calendar, instead, and try to peg these 2 things, based on a forecasted interview date in Manila IV?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Suppose I fall short of the I-864 income threshold and want to make up for the difference with assets. Is there any problem with borrowing money from family and putting it temporarily in a bank account under my name, for use in meeting the asset requirements? Thanks.

It depends on the consular officer.. but they won't allow it (K-1) and they will request for a joint sponsor (CR-1)....
