travel to China - less expensive visa service?

Found out today that a site we used in the past for visa applications no longer serves Utah (freechinavisa.org). Their service fee is currently only $15 per visa, which is very much lower than others I've found. But sadly they no longer serve Utah like I say.

My wife is from China, and our two kids will be traveling with us. So we need three visas total.

So far for for the D.C. region the lowest service fee I've found is about $50 (uschinavisa.com). Do you know of any lower cost options, for the D.C. embassy region (which includes Utah & several other states)?

Thanks,

Jonathan

That $140.00 fee is for the actual visa.

The $50.00 fee that OP was talking about is for another agency to apply for the visa on your behalf, not the actual visa fee.

And also, chinese citizens living in the U.S would not have pay anything for a visa to go back to china, as they do not require a visa to their country of citizenship.

$50 seems pretty cheap. Oasis which is in the same building as the visa section charges $100 plus $20 to ship.

I was there last week getting my Q visa and used Oasis to pick it up and ship it back to me.

Also, there is a 10 year visa now.

Any idea what the 10 year visa called? Do you know if it is the same price as the older, shorter ones?

The visas haven't changed they have only increased the duration. So L, M and Q visas can now be issued to 10 years. The price for any multi year visa is still $140 if its for 2, 5 or 10 years.

FWIW, I just got my visa back today and they issued it for 10 years even though I only asked for 5.

As you likely know, the rules and regs for obtaining visas to the PRC have been changing recently. What documents did you send in to get your recent multi-year visa? TIA

I put the date I'm leaving on the application but I don't think it's necessary for the Q2 and there is no requirement to show an itinerary. The letter was in Chinese and it was just emailed.

If the people in Chicago are anything like the folks in DC I suggest that you bring extra copies of everything because they don't like to make copies.

We also had them authenticate our marriage certificate just for future use. Also in DC they won't send you your passport back it has to be picked up, not sure if it's the same in Chicago. We found a visa service in the same building that picked it up and shipped it to me.

Man did I get ripped off.

Traveled to China last October, got my Q2 probably in early September late August time, one year expiration and paid like $225! :crying:

And that was after shopping around. At that time it seemed no visa agencies were familiar with Q2 visas. :ranting:
