Just sent off our K1 application after 4 agonizing months of waiting for my divorce papers. My fiancee and I are very excited but worried about the expense and waiting times. Ive been reading posts on this site now for months and the information is very helpful. So I thought I'd join and introduce myself. I also have one question:

My fiancee is Filipina ( I know, shocking) and she is wonderful. We met online and then met in person and fell very deeply in love. We don't worry about the pitfalls of our marriage. The only real worry we have is that we both dont make a lot of money and the process is very expensive. We recently heard that they require pictures of me with her family. This could just be a rumor but it was told to her by a friend who got her K1 last year. Does anyone else have any information on that?

Aside from that, we think this will go smoothly. I look forward to sharing information with others on this long journey. Feel free to say hi. Im friendly and love to hear the great stories from others who have made the journey and are happy they did.

Although helpful, I think that pictures with the fam are optional, but not necessary. There are other means to prove you have gone to see her. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Welcome to VJ & Good luck!

Shocking for sure!!!!!!! A Filipina!!

For the I-129F petition process you do not need pictures of you with her family, only pictures of the two of you. Same for the visa process in Manila, only need pictures of the two of you.

Ya the process is not cheap, but it is truly worth it. ;)

When you have time pop over to the Philippines forum and say HI, do some reading and get a handle on the process.

pictures are secondary evidence and are optional. It can help but it seems like you have enough evidence. Do not

forget the letters of intent, and all the other required documents
