MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTSImportant Reminders
  1. While female applicants of child-bearing age can undergo the medical examination during their menstrual period it is likely that the full examination cannot be conducted. To avoid delays, applicants who have their menstrual period may choose to reschedule their appointment for one week after the last day of their period.

WORKING FLOWCHART

REMINDERS:

II. Females within the reproductive age group are advised not to schedule their medical examination during their menstrual period. Otherwise, they will be required to come back one week after the last day of their menstruation.

One week after the last day. Just about right to get a clean urinalysis sample.

Thank you, doctor, for explaining to us why the rule needs to be there. But the fact remains that we are all stuck with it, including the St. Luke's doctor, who would be in hot water with her boss for letting someone slide.

The OP wanted to know how to save her interview date. My advice was to go back on Thursday, hoping the period is over by then. It does not really have to be a full week, as long as it is over. And although Thursday is cutting it really close, I did read stories about women who were forced to cut it that close and still got the med report to USEM on time. But St Luke's has to know about the urgency because without their cooperation, that sort of timing will simply not happen.

The urinalysis, by the way, is only used to determine if you are pregnant, thus needing the extra safety measures to protect the fetus. It is not used for anything else, which is why the men don't get it.

I went to St Lukes when I had my period... I wasn't able to get my physical exam and my Vaccine. I suggest to NOT GO. They will re schedule anyway and it'll take her a day still even though she only have to do Vaccine and Physical.

You dodged a bullet, it is not something I would go around recommending to others.

Sometimes people break the rules and get away with it. I have no problem personally with that, and congratualtions for getting away with it as you did. The only problem is others may try it and not be so lucky.

And that is the ELEPHANT in the room!

Your playing Russian Roulette with a loaded gun so to say. If you fail then everything you counted on has exploded in your face. Not something I would do or recommend. Better planning is the better alternative.

BTW.... There are apps that keep track of menstrual cycles. If you are one that is pretty much on time each month this is a tool you have to get. I had two females that I kept track of and we scheduled SLEC according to what the app said. Hit the nail right on the head and passed.

Say Ziggy. Re-read my post and you'll see how I phrased the use of the app, I never recommended the app for a irregular menstrual cycles. But, since the app is free and you waited a year.... would be a good time for anyone to practice with the app and see if they can predict the best time to schedule SLEC.

You dodged a bullet. Good luck with the rest of your journey.
