can a woman undergo medical examination during their menstrual period in manila???

I have to agree with Nola. Use of a tampon would remedy most issues with a urine sample or external check.

I'm pretty happy I did not have to do either of those things at my medical exam.

From the SLEC website:

Medical Exam Requirements.

While female applicants of child-bearing age can undergo the medical examination during their menstrual period it is likely that the full examination cannot be conducted. To avoid delays, applicants who have their menstrual period may choose to reschedule their appointment for one week after the last day of their period.

I couldn't imagine a doctor holding back a woman from completing her medical just because she was on her menstrual cycle. That would be bizarre especially considering it is a doctor and that is a normal health situation for a woman. But then again if there is enough time a medical can simply be scheduled when its not that time of the month since that is one thing we have control over.

If the woman wears a tampon then I don't see any issue. In fact even with a sanitary towel I don't see any issue unless in the PI there is an internal genital check.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

If I can give you any words of advice I sincerely think that this is something you shouldn't worry about unless you have gotten specific word that they do turn woman back. The medical shouldn't be that intense where a woman's natural body function would interfere in here passing the medical. From my understanding its just vaccinations and a normal physical. If a gender confirmation needs to be made that should be proof enough. She is coming to America not outer space so unless you heard something different don't get yourself worked up. I do understand certain cultures view that topic differently.

In other words, her bleeding was slow enough that she just removed the tampon and washed up before the exam and the blood stopped long enough to get her through it. I am glad it worked for her, as her time crunch left her with no other option. But if the doctor would have seen blood she would have stopped the exam and made her come back. So if any given woman has the time to reschedule and go after her period is over, that is still the best choice. Your fiance's luck held up, and I am happy for the both of you. But if a woman has the time to not need to depend on luck she should not.

Some exam locations will specifically allow exams durnig her period, but St. Luke's has a specific rule against it.

If you go in wearing a tampon the doctor will notice it, as she will position you in such a way that the tampon will become visible no matter how much you try to conceal it. So don't even try that. There has to be nothing in there, including no blood, in order to pass. This is not the case with many locations, but at St. Luke's it most definitely is.

BTW the urine test is for one purpose only: To determine pregnancy, as there are additional safety protocols to protect the fetus that the medical staff must follow if you are pregnant. Pregnancy will not affect the outcome of the exam, as there is nothing wrong with being pregnant and getting a visa.

my fiance is scheduled for her medical exam at St. Luke's in manila this Monday Dec. 15th. she just got her menstrual period this morning . can she still go for the exam on Monday????? or when she get there they will denie her examination and tell her to go home and reschedule ????

thanks in advance

The Saint Luke's website even clearly suggests that one should wait at least 1 week after your last period before going to your medical exam. That said, there is a chance she can do the medical exam, but may be asked to return one week after her menstrual cycle has completed, as was the case with my wife. She had her x-ray and other examinations done, but asked her to return a week after her period for her pelvic exam.
