Hello.. Life's been very hectic, and we submitted some things out of order.. is this going to be a problem? Back in July, our I-130 was approved, we paid the fees for the AOS and everything around september, but we did not submit the AOS package until October (we included 6 mo bank statements from when the documents were signed.. not when we mailed them). I also only recently did my DS-260 online, and within the month, I'll be submitting my IV package. Is this spacious timing a cause for concern? Will the NVC have any issues?

also, Im a canadian immigrating to america. I've never been issued a long birth cert, for IV form is my original birth certificate sufficient for IV package? (it is short form.. never knew long was a thing)

Is canadian format passport photos okay for IV? I notice they are not 2x2 inch but 2x 2 3/4 inch.

Thanks a lot. We are nervous about AOS being approved because my petitioner is unemployed and our joint sponsor is a retired veteran, getting most of his money from VA, pension, SSI, whatnot.. we only got an email about there being a 3 month delay in processing due to a high volume. Any help is very appreciated thank you..

Hi Adelaid3!

Back in late August - early September, the NVC began requesting the submission of the AOS and IV packets together. They even mentioned that failure to do so could delay the process. This was when they were changing the process. Now that being said, from what I read here on VJ lots of people are still submitting them separately. I don't think it much matters at this point, as they seem royally backlogged at the present time.

I had to write to Ontario for a copy of my long form birth certificate because the one I had was the short one (doesn't have fathers name and info on it, etc.). They do require the long form. As far as the photos, I don't know if they will be that touchy. They do specify 2" x 2", so you could be checklisted for that. Most places can make them US format if you ask. I get mine through CAA and they have many formats.

All in all I don't really think there will be any issues with your timing. NVC will scan your information into their system as they receive it, and when they get to your case for review, if they do not have something, they will let you know. Good luck on your NVC journey :)!

Phew that is a big relief . Thank you very much, I will make sure to get the right stuff pronto. I am getting my long form cert and will make sure its 2x2 just to be safe rather than sorry.

again thanks. This whole process is a lot more difficult than I expected!

You MUST have your long form of your birth certificate or they will hold your visa until you provide it. You can order it online for 38.75 through vital statistics canada. It only takes a week to get it if you order it online. The only difference in the long form is that it lists your mother & father with there place of birth.

The time frame won't be a big deal. You have up to a year to submit documents. You could realistically drag the NVC process out for years.
