K1 Visa - sending initial application tomorrow, worried!

My fiance, Lee, has made 7 trips now to visit me and we are finally sending in our K1 Visa package tomorrow.

Besides the required forms and documents, we are also including as proof we've met and intention to marry:

- copies of his passport showing every stamp since he's met me

- copies of airline travel, hotel expenses and other costs

- affidavits of support from my friends and family that have met him

- affidavits from his employer and his friends and family that they are aware of our engagement and of his visits to me

- wedding save-the-dates

- statements from our joint bank account

- personal statements from he and I (2-3 pages each of why we love each other and why we are going this route)

- LOTS OF PICTURES of us, us with my family and us with my friends.

- screen prints of our email correspondence (shows titles only but doesn't give all the personal info)

- his telephone bills showing all of the long-distance calls (highlighted!)

He was previously engaged to another girl in the U.S. and was approved for a K1 visa with her. Unfortunately, the relationship didn't work out so he ended up leaving before the visa expired and never married her. Both of us are VERY concerned about how this will affect our application now.

We recently took a cruise to Mexico and he was stopped by Customs and questioned when we got off the boat to get back into California; they kept asking the same questions over and over again about our relationship and it was a pretty intense 10 minutes until they finally stamped him and let him go by. He was carrying a letter from his current employer verifying that he was expected to be back at work in the UK by a certain date, but he never had to take it out. The cruise is the reason why we delayed filing the K1 until now, because we didn't want him to get stuck in Mexico.

We are basically sending EVERYTHING we have without getting too personal; he calls me daily at work on my lunch hour so that shows up on his phone bill. We'd rather not send our actual text messages or actual emails.

Has anyone ever gotten RFE's for more personal items than what we've listed above?

Thanks for reading and I've enjoyed browsing all the posts here.

You don't actually have to prove you are in love. They want to know one is a US citizen, you have met in person in the last two years, are free to marry, and intend to marry within 90 days of his entry on a Fiancé visa. I wouldn't worry about sending even more stuff. It's not as difficult to get an approval as you are imagining.

If anything, I think you are sending too much evidence, Im sure it wont hurt but if they take the time to look at all of it it will definitely take way longer than a regular packet with enough to meet the requirements.

The passport stamps will be your best evidence, since they're issued by DHS themselves. We sent off our application with just our passport stamps (Belgian interviewing at UK embassy, so low-fraud country too) and got approved with no issues.

You don't need to send in any of the stuff I crossed out in your list above. The first 2 items in your list will serve as proof you have met, although the 2nd item should be airline boarding passes and receipts. You also don't need to send a LOT of pictures, a few (like around 10) will suffice. You can also send in some proof of relationship as evidenced in the last 2 items in your list, but again it doesn't need to be much. You are going through the UK consulate so it won't be that difficult to be approved.

My wife is from Philippines, and the consulate there is not as easy as the UK embassy and we were approved no problem. I only sent about 30 pages of chat transcripts, cell phone records, etc. and about 12 photos.

Relax, just make sure you have all the required information (follow the guides for guidance), and you are golden.

Lee and Sara--I 100% agree with all that was crossed out by Zedayn but I didn't want to rain on your parade so didn't mention it. But now that somebody else did...well...you are sending WAY too much. My opinion is if your entire petition can't fit into one of those cardboard Priority Mail mailing sleeves, then it's too much. You don't want the actual things they need to see to be lost in all that extra fluff they don't require.

I also agree...We only sent 10 pics, passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel confirmations, and phone logs, One paragraph explaining how we met and the dates of our visits. We were approved in 65 days. I'd be worried with all that unnecessary paperwork something that is actually required would get lost or misplaced by USCIS. lol

I'm curious as to how you were able to send save the date wedding notices...the timing and predictability of this process makes it very difficult to set a wedding date this far ahead.

Thanks for all the feedback. We feel less insecure about what we are sending now.

Our package may have sounded bigger than it was from my description. It's 10 photos (which seemed like a lot to me), 5 letters from friends and family, phone bills and email titles only. Aside from required forms and required written statements, it's under 30 pages and everything is labelled/tabbed to be found easily. It's not going to be difficult to sort through. Judging from RFEs we saw on other postings, we decided to send in the other Supplemental things as well rather than delay.

We sent save the dates out because our reception/ceremony is more than a year away. We intend to be legally married in the local courthouse when the K1 visa is approved, and then have the celebration that our family will be involved in later. Our statements in the k1 package reflect this plan. We wanted to give our friends and family enough time to plan financially for travelling where we are having it. I live in a rural area and most of my friends and family are spread out; of course, his are all in the UK too.
