Just a quickie question....

In everyone elses experience does the NOA 1 come via e-mail or snail mail?

Have they cashed your check yet? The only way you can sign up for email updates is through the receipt number on the back of your check. I just ask because if you haven't then theres no way they could email you anyways! :)

And yes, it will come by mail. The NOA2 can come by email if you've signed up for email updates (and it comes in the snailmail as well).

As James_and_Miranda said....this can only be done once they have the receipt # from either the NOA1 or the back of the cashed check.

Once you get your NOA 1 via snail mail you can sign up here for any updates. https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

They will email you with your NOA2 approval notice. You will then get the hard copy via snail mail.

Is it just me, but ever since I have sent it off ( I129F), it's become almost an obsession :wacko: !

I am not only "addicted" to this site ( VJ) but for some reason, I keep checking my e-mail ( like something is going to magically appear)....Am I nuts :wacko: ?

I think so-either way.....It's great to know that everyone here has either been through it or is going through it too!

That's not the only way .... you can wait for the NOA to come in the mail to get the receipt number.

Well they had indicated that they did not have their NOA1 yet so I was saying that in the context that that is the way to sign up without their NOA1.

Point of clarification - a Notice of Action (Form I-797 or I-797C) will come only by post.

There may be e-mail informing of the action, or that an NOA has been issued, but the e-mail is not an NOA nor will it transmit the NOA.

Yes I'm well aware the email is just a notice that something has been sent, it isn't the actual document nor could it stand as the document. I was just being sure that the OP understood that until she had her receipt number (through NOA1 or check, or calling the service center is an option as well I guess) she couldn't have email updates anyways as this is required to sign up for the online service.
