Hello All,

When I filed the I-130 and my (beneficiary) first and last name were correct on the application. It matched my passport and birth certificate. Even when it went to NVC, When DS 261 was submitted Name was correct (i have printed copy of what I submitted). But some where in the process name got messed up and it FNU as my first name and Last name has my entire name (First Last and Middle). Now that NVC has processed every thing and I have interview scheduled on 13 jan. Please let me know the implication. Will the visa be rejected? What can be done to over come this. Please help

As your interview is scheduled, instead of making changes, go ahead with the visa procedures,..... after you are approved and if you have enough time, you can make changes with the local US embassy, otherwise anytime after reaching US, you can correct this change.

Good Luck

You should have corrected this when it was still at the NVC. I would contact your consulate or embassy and see if you can get them to correct it BEFORE interview if possible.

I believe you have an old passport... Most of the old indian passport list first and last name together (at given name). So USCIS will take your first and last name as last name and give you FNU (first name unknown) as your first name.. You will get your visa printed with FNU as your first name... the problem will be getting SSN, driver license etc.. some SSN office won't accept it... its a mess.. you probably need to change your name in US to your official name then get SSN.. then you have to change every thing... update with USCIS and change Green Card to your official name. it will be time consuming and expensive...

You should check with consulate about this.. if they will allow you to update your passport at this point... If you have first name and last name printed together, Consulate recommends to update to your passport. .so check with consulate.. visa will be approved..

No issue with Visa but you have to live in US with FNU as your first name.. need to change in U.S.. will be time consuming and expensive... it is better to get Visa on a updated passport
