How much notice do they usually give you for the embassy interview?

I will be going to the london embassy. Just wondering how much notice they usually give you as I plan to work in Canada until i can join my husband in USA and it would be quite difficult if they only gave a few days!

Also how long from the interview do you get the actual green card?

Notice for what? And you don't get a green card until once you're in the US. After the interview you'll get a visa and that visa will be stamped and turned into a temporary green card upon entering the US. The actual green card will arrive in the mail within a month to up to a year sometimes, which is why the visa acts as a temporary green card for 12 months.

oops, i mean once you go to the interview, how long is it till you can actually fly back to the US? my husband is planning on coming with me and then fly together.

I also want to know once you get a letter for the interview, how many days in advance do they tell you?a month?

Ah gotcha. I'm unfamiliar with embassy procedure where they make the appointment for you. My husband had to schedule his own online.

But, you can book flights and fly once the visa is approved at the interview and you get the passport and sealed packet by courier, which doesn't take long at all. Just make sure everything is in order on the packet and visa and that there are no typos. You should also the $165 Immigrant Fee through USCIS ELIS once you get the visa packet. Then you're all set.

Have you done the medical? That has to be done in London, too. They'll usually notify you of an interview within about 6 weeks after they get the medical results and the notification that you've sent all your forms and have the documents you need. Then, the interview could be 2 - 6 weeks after the notification. It's difficult to predict the specifics.

And, in terms of how long post-interview. The embassy usually says 10 working days, it's often faster, but it could also be longer depending on the time of year, any issues with your application, etc.

I think OP is doing a spouse visa via USCIS in the US, which means the medical happens after they get their interview date. (I'm assuming this since they posted in IR1/CR1 and there's no indication of DCF so far unless I missed it)

Once you get the interview date, you need to schedule the medical appointment at Knightsbridge Doctors - 020 7486 7822. Make sure you get the medical out of the way in good time. It takes them 3 working days to send the results over (more if there are issues like X-ray shadows).

My bad, you're right. I, for some reason, assumed K1, but having had a look at their other threads it's a CR-1.
