yes yes. winter break from uni... relax, you - is no way i'm stepping into KL this season, or next.

did I say that right? no. I finished my stuff for my masters degree, went to graduation, and now start law school next month.

i dunno about the rest of you, but six months into moving here, and i still don't know anyone well enough to call them more than random strangers. our neighbours pretty much keep to themselves (we tried knocking on doors a couple times when we cooked too much food but got no replies even though their lights were on, tvs were on, etc) and anyone that is family lives 45 minutes away.

it's kind of a bummer because i'm a sociable person, and the only social time i get is at work. too bad, especially with having to stay home from work all this time.

Jonas not talk you into hosting a party at yer apartment, with actual, handwritten invitations, taped to the door of each apartment, in a 8 door radius? What happened? He seems to have been dropped on his head, no standard etiquette .. Seems too harsh for me to even write it.

So, since you missed the 'move-in' party - what did you do about :

1. birthday party

2. kritter acquisition party

3. thanksgiving party or black friday-after-shopping-after-glow party

4. christmas cheer party

It's not that I'm old-fashioned - it's solely that I feel bad for you, you've not been integrated/assimilated into your immediate neighborhood. Is it due to lack of etiquette skills / knowledge? I sincerely hope not.

well, darnell, all i can say is that not everyone lives life by the same etiquette book the one thing that moving countries/cultures has taught me is that there is no 'standard'. sometimes a little compromise goes a long way.

we are having a new years eve party though, with a few of his friends. got some card/board games and beer, will be cooking up some crockpot casserole, hawaiian sweet rolls, gravy, roast chicken, broccoli salad and a potato mash. you guys ever play munchkins? it's a pretty fun game! supposed to be for minimum 3 players but j and i have been making it work with 2.
